Gary Gerstenblith, M.D., adeptly employs his interdisciplinary background in his posts as Professor of Medicine, Director of Clinical Research in the Division of Cardiology, and Director of the Reynolds Center Cardiovascular Clinical Research Training Program. As Director of Clinical Research, he is involved in the conception, organization, and implementation of numerous trials within the Division. These trials emphasize the use of sophisticated technologies, testing the applicability of basic research findings to clinical care, and the participation of fellows and junior faculty through the development and conduct of the study, to publication. He has a strong track record of selecting and working with promising fellows and junior faculty and mentoring them to become leaders in cardiology both at Johns Hopkins and at other major medical institutions in the United States. He regards the training of young basic and clinical investigators as one of his highest priorities.
